Torden Destinations – Tennesse

Harking back to lush lowlands mellowed by the mists of the Appalachian Mountains, Golden Tennessee delivers a taste of light air-cured burley tobacco, with sweet maple and deep oak notes.

Our Torden Golden Tennessee e-liquid takes its name from the home of country and blues music, Highland Rim tobacco and Tennessee whiskey, which all come through in every tasty puff.

A Land of Deep History and Native Beauty

Tennessee is the ancestral home of the Creek Indians, from whom the state gets its name (after an American Indian village named Tanasqui). The Creek believe that, in ancient times, all of the world was underwater except for a solitary hill rising above the waves, their homeland. On this hill lived the Master of Breath, Esaugetuh Emissee, who created men and women from the clay of the hill. He also created Brother Moon and Sister Sun, and the four directions of the compass that would hold up the world. So it was for millennia until European explorers – first Spanish, then British, then American – discovered, then settled, this lush land from the 1500s onward.

Tennessee has always been a land of wild beauty, from the heights of Clingman’s Dome in the Great Smokey Mountains, to the coastal plain of the Upper Delta. And right in the middle of Tennessee is the Pennyroyal Plateau surrounding Nashville and the Nashville Basin, where fertile soil makes for great white burley tobacco – the perfect inspiration for our Golden Tennessee e-liquid blend.

An Iconic Center of Delicious Barbecue and American Music

Tennessee boasts both Memphis and Nashville, two cities that make the state a crossroads of American food and music culture.

Tennessee is consistently at the top of the country’s best barbecue lists.  Head on down to Memphis, and you can salivate over dry rubbed Memphis style ribs with a side of red Memphis barbecue sauce, a bold tomato and vinegar sauce that really packs a punch. Or you can shoot over to Nashville and order up their famous pulled pork. The barbecue sauce you’ll get in Nashville is sweet, savory, hot and tangy, with a satisfying smokiness.

And we’d be doing you a disservice if we didn’t mention Tennessee whiskey. This is a special blend – you may have heard of Jack Daniels, for example? – that filters the whiskey through sweet maple charcoal to give it a distinctive taste and smoothness before aging in oak barrels. Our Golden Tennessee pays tribute to Tennessee whiskey with notes of maple in the draw and oak in the exhale.

There are few places that have added more to American music than Tennessee. Nashville sits at the center of the country music universe, with the genre starting as far back as the 1920s. It is places like Ryman Auditorium and the Grand Ole Opry House that have made global stars of country’s best performers. Memphis, on the other hand, is widely regarded as the birthplace of the blues. Beale Street to be exact, with blues artists creating their special sound in the clubs there since the early 1900s. Memphis is also home to Sun Records, the legendary label that built the careers of artists like Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison and, of course, Elvis Presley. Speaking of Elvis, if you’re out that way, be sure to stop in at Elvis’s mansion, now museum and national historic landmark, Graceland.

There’s a lot to love about Tennessee. The history, the food and the music all combine to form a truly American destination. Check in with us as we continue to explore our Torden Destinations, so you can learn more about the places that inspire our e-liquids.
